Martin Ross is a district attorney with a fighting chance at his party's nomination for governor. But Martin's brother, Richard, wants him to have more than a fighting chance. So, as the other candidate takes a shower at his country club, Richard walks in with a gun and a silencer and walks out with one less bullet. The sheriff calls Martin and tells him the news of the murder. Later, he has a suspect: the victim's teenage caddy. But Martin already knows his brother is the real murderer. And Richard takes Martin's wife hostage to ensure than no one else finds out.

Griff Bonnell (Sullivan) and his brothers arrive in a small, Arizona town. He is a U.S. Marshal looking to arrest Howard Swain (Chuck Roberson), coincidentally one of landowner Jessica Drummond’s (Stanwyck) 40 guns. The town is being terrorized and trashed by Brockie and his boys. He’(😌)s an arrogant drunk and bully but when he shoots an old buddy of Griff’s, he and his brothers intervene.
The opening shot is of a young couple (Gail Ganley and Ralph Reed) in a sports car necking. She excuses herself and the boy drives off. The girl is approached by a man carrying a silver briefcase. He removes his sunglasses and she screams and collapses on the lawn. The man removes a rubber hose and needle and attaches it to her neck and empties her blood into vials in his case. We get a close up his eyes and they are just milky white orbs. Title and credits run over pen and ink drawings.
